Our librarian, Mrs. Gigantelli, would like to share the following information from the Strathmore Public Library about upcoming events

Partnering with Parents to Address Behavioural Challenges and Mental Health Concerns in School – Wednesday, May 2 (10:30am-12:30pm) – Strathmore Municipal Library. Good mental health starts with an understanding of the brain and its primary roles.  This session will introduce parents and those who work with youth to the basic concepts in establishing and maintaining positive mental health in these young people.  Topics will include discussion of the teenage brain, common myths about mental illness, teenage stress, promoting positive mental health in the child and accessing help. This session is presented by the Community Education Service of the Child & Adolescent, Mental Health & Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) of AHS in partnership with Mental Health Literacy for Parents & Teen Mental Health.org. This FREE program will be presented via videoconference in the Meeting Room of the library.   No registration is required.  

Friday Fun Film – Friday, May 11 (1:00pm-2:30pm) – Strathmore Municipal Library.  This month the library will be showing Homeward Bound.  Rated PG.  At the end of the film we will draw for one lucky participant to take the movie home with them!  Participants will be treated to popcorn and drinks! This program is free to attend and no registration is required.   Popcorn and drinks sponsored by Walker Carpentry.  www.strathmorelibrary.ca

Library Spring Market – Saturday, May 12 (10:00am-4:00pm) – Strathmore Municipal Library. The Great Family Treasure Hunt – Saturday, June 2 (1:00pm-4:00pm) – Strathmore Municipal Library. Put on your detective hat as you follow the clues to reveal hidden treasures in the Lambert Park & Centre, Kinsmen Park, and Downtown Strathmore.  The Great Family Treasure Hunt is designed for families (or groups) to work together solving clues.  This fun-filled afternoon is free to attend and requires no registration.  Complete the hunt to be entered into a draw for a Family Photo Shoot by River & Reeds Photography including 20-25 digital images for you to print at your leisure.  Value: $280.00!  www.strathmorelibrary.ca
